Byobu
Studio-i! hair salon and concept store, Keizersgracht 84, Amsterdam
The work is inspired by Japanese aesthetics.
It is supporting the store’s concept of ‘sensual journey’.
Typically a folding screen bears decorative images. Here the decorative image ‘escapes’ into the background. At the same time the screen is turned into a bare geometrical form unfolding freely over the full length of the store’s walls.
The ‘new screen’ offers a meditative space to Studio-i’s customers.
DIMENSIONS: 3.40x20m (total length of the walls)
MATERIALS: black&white print on 110g paper, 3 shades grey latex, 3 mirrors in metal frames
